How do you mend a broken heart?
on July 22nd, 2012my 13 year old grandson has a broken heart..he lost his grandfather’s bracelet engraved with his Papa’s name. He feels he has let Papa down..he asked will Papa forgive me for what I have done? He has had that bracelet since Papa died five years ago. My grandson said he misses his Papa and Papa’s smile and he is who he is today because of his Papa…I told him Papa isn’t upset, that he has his memories that no one can take away from him…….but I just feel so bad for my grandson…Bless his heart, such an awesome kid…..

InstantWidow, I have been looking through my stuff to see if I could find something to kind of replace the bracelet. I feel so bad and am hoping we find it…..what is strange is our checkbook turned up missing at the same time…..wonder if I have a Clepto-cat in the house……We will make it up somehow..
Aww … bless his little heart. I know what that feels like. That happened to mee. After 4 yrs I lost a locket my Mamaw had given me (she gave it to me for an Easter present and suddenly died 2 days later). I clung to that locket for years. It helped me feel close to her. My mother tried to replace it. She gave me one of Mamaw’s music boxes. It wasn’t the same but it helped. I remember when the same thing happened to my brother – he had been given a tie tack from our Great-Grandfather and lost it at some point. My Great-Grandmother replaced it by giving my brother our great-grandfather’s drivers license. It was so old … it was metal and looked like a dogtag … had all his personal stats on it. It meant a lot to my brother as he was just learning to drive. He’s kept it in his wallet. He still has it. Hobby, you should be able to choose something meaningful for the little guy. It won’t make up for the loss but it will be comforting to have something else.
